So let’s be honest, some of us worked out during the Spring and Winter months and some of us didn’t.  I myself find myself numbered with those who did not.  I don’t feel too bad about it, I had so much dang stuff to do with school and attempts at dating, that it just never seemed to fall into place.

The problem is, I’m super out of shape and it’s time already to go back to the lake and the swimming pool.  Let me just say, I’m not that excited.  However, I am excited that I finally have time to start exercising again.  The only problem is, it’s going to be rough coming back.  So to anyone who didn’t workout during the Spring and Winter, this one goes out to you.  This is how to get back into the working out habit:

First of all, what you’re going to want to do is make sure that you are utilizing all the fancy technology we have nowadays.  There are so many planners, apps, and other programs that we can use to calendar our workouts and write down our goals.  Make sure to take advantage of these things.

Second, make sure that when you do go to the gym, you are using your time wisely.  Life can be awful busy and times and you may only have time for a little 10 minutes workout.  If that’s the case, make sure to do everything you can in those 10 minutes.  Try circuits or interval training.

Third, take a friend along with you, a workout buddy.  The old adage “misery loves company” is true also in working out.  Well, maybe it’s not that bad, but having a workout buddy does help you develop that sense of responsibility.

Finally, feel free to break up your work outs.  Maybe you can only work out in 15 minute increments, three times a day.  Those times will stack up and by the end of the day, the results will be the same.

So these are just a couple tips for getting back into the workout groove.  Take them and run with it and make sure to enjoy this summer!

Okay readers, today I have a delicious recipe for you! This is seriously my very favorite dessert recipe, and I have made it probably 6 times in the last two months. It is so easy and has so few ingredients! I found this recipe here, but this is my adapted version! I make it slightly different than the original recipe, because I thought that the original was too sweet. I also make mine in a regular pie pan, but you could make individual servings if you prefer (it’s just a bit more work!) But either way, it is delicious and turns out amazing every time!

Yummy! Except, use chocolate cookie crust! It tastes much better!

Television has found its way into basically everyone’s home.  Now it is said that 54 percent of television-housing households have more than two TVs in their house.  If you are anything like me you will find yourself bored and watching TV at least once a day.  Television is the national past time, and why not? It is easy to do and it is mildly entertaining.  The problem is sometimes the entertainment from watching television is too mild, you know what I’m saying?

Do these in conjunction with your television viewing, to make for a more enjoyable experience

  1. Shoot Sticky Nerf bullets on the screen
  2. Do pushups, sit ups, squats and other calisthenics
  3. Compose a blog post about how to make television fun
  4. Read a book
  5. Wrestle with a friend
  6. Watch a second television at the same time
  7. Close your eyes and mute the sound. Try to guess when the commercials come on
  8. Talk loudly with a friend
  9. Rehearse karate routines
  10. Go out side and pretend to watch television whilst actually doing something completely different

Seriously though exercising while watching television is much more stimulating than just sitting and watching television.  Most of us cannot do push ups or sit ups throughout an entire television show, and this leaves us bored through the remainder of the program.  That is why i would suggest you get a treadmill for your TV.  They allow you to walk or run while still actually focusing on the soap operas you watch for no good reason.

So, in light of the academic year coming to close and summer just being on the horizon, the subject for today is ‘getting an education and not just a degree.’  This is a an interesting subject because although it is largely hushed and swept under the rug, it is highly relevant to anyone who goes to college or is planning on going to a college.  Read the rest of this entry »

The concept of online dating is pretty tricky. The concept of dating is complicated enough, and when social media, hosting websites and screen names gets added to it, the result is system of extremely personal communication with privacy safeguards similar to those of a Saran-Wrap changing booth.

Dating: 50 years ago, dating was a phase in a process that started with boys pulling girl’s pig tails and moved towards lifelong marriages. At least that was the ideal.

Modern society has largely changed its purpose for dating; instead of dating being a means to an end it has become an end in and of itself. This just means that people tend to date without an eye for commitments and date just to have fun dating.

With this new way of dating, many couples have longer “courtships” that do surprisingly little to prepare them for a lifelong marriage. There is strong evidence that people look at the dating scene differently.

If dating were in preparation for marriage, couples wouldn’t spend ten years in a relationship and then get divorced after one year of marriage. It’s like the life of a perpetual college student who takes classes for years but is in no way prepared to enter the workforce.

Online: Online dating is basically a concept that represents a tool. That tool which can be used as a social medium. There are a countless ways that individuals can interact with each other by using the internet, and online dating doesn’t necessarily have to involve online dating websites or social media sites with dating applications.

Online Dating: When the current dating mindset is combined with technology that allows any individual to be a (photo-shopped) social butterfly, the result is… well, online dating. Online dating exists, and people who stoop to online dating are usually thrilled to be matched and paired, for a short time, with other people who have stooped to online dating.

Thanks to the internet we are able to reach out and become one in cyber-space. In this infinite cyber universe there is a place for all of us. This is done through social media, where social interactions are created, bringing people together. Take advantage of reaching an infinite amount of connections with social media. You may share, read, or participate as much as you wish. Building connections or relationships through social media is better for your business, no matter what your goal is. There are several beginner’s guide to  social media for dummies but here are a few basics.

Business:

  1. A person’s regular occupation, profession, or trade.
  2. An activity that someone is engaged in

Goals:

*Product: Selling or promoting a product you find others want or need.

*Awareness: Bringing a topic of interest to the minds of many.

*Services: Offer helping or doing work for someone.

*Acknowledgment: The middle man. Connects for acknowledgment and in return shares loyalty and more connections.

Some forms of social media include:

*Blogs/micro-blogs: Twitter

*Content communities: YouTube

*Social Networking sites: Facebook

Connecting:

Connecting to as many people as possible, with quality relationships, will open up business opportunities. It works due to the “you scratch my back and I will scratch yours” system. For example: E-mail is the first and most common form of social media. But it does not work alone. You need the other person to respect the e-mail system and reply. After receiving a response, it has now become an interactive communication dialogue, a form of social media. If everyone was sending out e-mails but not getting a response social media would have taken longer to get to where it is now.

Using a combination of these social media forms is a great way to have a variety of connections. Stay true to yourself when creating profile accounts, posting comments, and responding time. Remember that there are people on the other end, so be courteous and best of luck to your next social media adventure.

There is so much garbage on television. When you only have a few hours to unwind you need to be picky when choosing a show. Flipping through last night, I came across a couple shows that will raise your blood pressure. Who wants that? Then started a show called “House of Consignment” by a company called eDrop-Off. From first glance it looked like all the other fashionista shows, until the owner of eDrop-Off, Corri McFadden, told her story. This disciplined, amazingly beautiful, young women started her own business at 21 years old. If you want to follow in another’s foot steps on how to create your own destiny watch Corri McFadden run her business. She is the stalwart of the American Woman and I can’t wait to see the other episodes.

The warmth is peaking through and it is time to pull out your hottest summer dresses. You can shed those leggings and undershirts because it is going to be a hot one this year! I am super excited to see what 2012 summer wear style is going to be so, I jumped online to get an idea.

Online shopping is easy and gives you unlimited selection of styles in every price range. Know what words to use, when finding the hottest online summer dresses, in order to get what you want. If you shop by designer, add the designer name. You may also enter the type of destination you are shopping for to narrow the results. Say you are going to the beach and have limited funds, then search cheap beach summer dresses.

When you enter summer dresses there will be something for everyone. Whether you enjoy dressing casual, modern, sexy, or professional there are tons of perfect dresses to choose from. Make this a fun experience and don’t let it become overwhelming. The key is to be as broad or specific as you desire. Another tip is to not judge by website name. Just because you are on a name brand site does not mean it is expensive. On the other hand there are many different sites that sell quality brands at a discounted price. Take advantage of these by going to all different types of online summer dress sites. Many brands are broadening their styles to accommodate you. This is supposed to be fun and give you the best outfits for the new year! Try to be as open-minded as possible while not settling for anything but the hottest online summer dresses

When there is nothing going on in my world, I hit the road. I love to take long drives but that doesn’t mean I don’t need things to make them fun! There is a sense of peace when it is just me and flashing scenery. This is also the perfect time for me to focus my mental health. The average drive on the weekends is 5-7 hours. Where I live offers me a lot of different destinations within that range. Mountain trails, miles of desert desolation, ocean sand between my toes, smokey casinos or showy city lights. The trick is to enjoy the journey on the way to your destination. Here are some things you can do to make long drives fun.

Enjoy Day & Night

*The sun exposing every detail of your surroundings or the sparkling night sky lit by the moon.

Think for your Health

*Don’t be afraid to loose yourself in your thoughts. You may come up with solutions to problems that have been weighing you down.

Call a Friend

*What a perfect time to catch up with someone who you haven’t made time for.

Music lifts the Soul

*Sing your heart out! Music heals and it is good to get it all out.

Be sure you are prepared for your trip with getting plenty of sleep. It is no fun driving when your eyes burn from exhaustion. If you need to, pull over for 15 min and take a power nap. Stay away from too much junk food. You may feel the desire to load up on soda, coffee, and chips or candy, but just because no one there to tell you no, your body will. Have that soda or coffee, supplement chips for almonds and candy for fruit. This way your body will have sufficient energy for the drive.
